The piano was made in Boston around 1860 by the Jonas Checkering company.
It was handed down to me by my mother. We had it restored in 1990. The piano technician said he would never work on it again. Pianos of this age are each unique and parts have to be hand made. Today very few people want these piano because they will not stay tuned long, they weight over 900 pounds, and they take up a lot of room. That is why we are repurposing it.
